Health Insurance Benefits Explained
Deductible: A set amount you pay each year for covered services before your plan starts to pay for covered healthcare/prescription costs.
Coinsurance: Once you have met your deductible, you and your health plan share the cost of covered healthcare services. The coinsurance is your share of the costs, usually a percent of the cost of care.
Out-of-pocket Limit: This is the maximum amount you could pay before your plan starts to pay 100% of all covered healthcare costs.* It is the sum of the deductible and coinsurance amounts.
Premium: The premium, also called the monthly payment, is what you pay for the plan. It's the money that comes out of your paycheck.

Critical Shortage/Return to Work After Retirement
VRS Critical Shortage Brochure-downloadVirginia Retirement System changes return to work after retirement rules.During the retirement process with Campbell County Schools, you learned that you are eligible to return to work with a VRS-participating employer and continue receiving your retirement benefit if: - You satisfy your 30-day break in service during a month in which you would have ordinarily worked. - You return to work in a part-time capacity (working 80% or less than the hours or days of the full-time equivalent of the position you will be returning to. - You have not made a pre-arranged agreement to return to work prior to your eligibility to return to work. How Returning to Work Rules have ChangedRecent changes to Virginia Retirement System’s Return-to-Work policy may benefit you in retirement. VRS has updated Return-to-Work rules under their “Critical Shortage” policy. Who is affected? Under the updated Critical Shortage Return-to-Work policy, retired teachers, administrators, specialized support positions, and bus drivers are eligible to return to work on a full-time, contract basis in areas classified as critical shortage. What are the updated rules? Retirees who have been separated from a VRS-participating provider for at least six months are eligible to return to work in a full-time capacity while continuing to receive their monthly retirement benefit. This six-month break in service means you have not worked any full-time, part-time, or volunteer positions (including substitute teaching and coaching) during any six consecutive months during your retirement. What other rules apply? In addition to your six-month break in service, you must hold a license for the Critical Shortage position you will be covering. Also, retirees who have retired under a VRS Disability Retirement are not eligible to cover a Critical Shortage position. What stayed the same? If you are not working in a critical shortage position as a full-time employee, these changes do not affect your continued part-time or substituting position. You may return to work after your 30-day break in service. If you prefer to be considered for a critical shortage position in the future, you will need to satisfy the six-month separation in service requirement. In Summary: If you are a retiree from the end of a school year with a July 1 retirement date, you may be eligible to return to work in January on a full-time basis, receiving contract pay from Campbell County Schools in addition to your monthly retirement benefit from Virginia Retirement System! Critical Shortage positions are not meant to be continuing positions, however there may be instances where you would qualify to work, full-time, during consecutive school years. Continuation of employment under a Critical Shortage position depends on applicant availability and classification updates of Critical Shortage approved positions. If you would like to be considered for employment in a critical shortage position, please contact:
