How old does my child need to be in order to be eligible for the Pre-K program?
The child must be four years old on or before September 30 of the coming school year to enroll in Pre-K
What do I need to do to get my child into the Pre Kindergarten program?
The child must be screened and a questionnaire completed at the home school, which is the school serving the child's attendance area. Areas are assigned based on the parent's current physical address with the proof of residency (see below). Proof of income and the original Birth Certificate. Funding only allows a limited number of students to be served. You will be notified in writing in July of your child's standing.
What is acceptable evidence for proof of residency(two pieces of evidence are required)
A deed, mortgage, rental agreement, personal bill, or payroll stub
How is Pre-K placement determined?
The PreK program is grant-funded through the Virginia Preschool Initiative and space is limited. Children are selected based on income eligibility and other risk factors.
Is it possible for my child to attend Campbell County Public Schools for Pre-K if we do not live in Campbell County?
Due to Pre K funding requirements, students in the Pre-K program must reside in Campbell County.
What if I live in Campbell County, but not in the school zone that I want my child to attend Pre-K?
Due to Pre K funding being tied to equity, students may only apply to the school in their attendance zone.
If we move into another school district, can my child remain at his/her current school?
No, due to funding, a student must reside in Campbell County to attend the Pre Kindergarten program.
