Application Process & Deadline

• May 1st – Application deadline for the Virtual Learning & Extracurricular Program.
• Review & Meeting – Families should review our website and FAQs, then meet with a school counselor to assess eligibility and graduation planning. *Transfer credits for High School Students are accepted based on the Virginia Department of Education Diploma Requirements.
• Submit Application – Complete and submit the application form to the school principal(available on our website) by May 1, 2025.
• Enrollment – Once approved, students will be enrolled in both Campbell County Public Schools and Virtual Virginia.

Elementary Virtual Learning Benefits

For younger students, the virtual learning option provides a strong foundation in core subjects while allowing families to tailor education to their child’s needs. Benefits include:

Access to school counselor -All CCPS students have access to a school counselor for scheduling,  college and career planning.

Pathway to a High School Diploma-Students enrolled in the program will be eligible to graduate with a recognized Campbell County Public Schools diploma, ensuring they meet state graduation requirements and are well-prepared for higher education or career opportunities.

High School Diploma – Students earn a CCPS diploma, ensuring a smooth transition to college or careers.

Inclusion in Extracurricular Activities

Students enrolled in the virtual program will have the opportunity to participate in:

• Sports Teams – Eligible to join middle and high school athletic programs.
• Fine Arts – Band, choir, theatre, and visual arts opportunities.
• School Events – Inclusion in dances, prom, and graduation ceremonies.
• Clubs & Organizations – Participation in student government, honor societies, and special interest clubs.

 

• Career & Technical Education (CTE) – Hands-on training in high-demand fields such as healthcare, automotive technology, and culinary arts.
• Governor’s School – Advanced academic courses for gifted students.
• STEM Academy – Focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
• Dual Enrollment – Earn college credits while completing high school coursework.

What is the cost for being a fully virtual student? As a student enrolled in a Campbell County Public School, there is no cost to be a fully virtual student.  

Will I need to purchase a student laptop?  No, Your child will be issued a CCPS student device(students are expected to follow the CCPS technology use agreement and the Virtual Virginia technology guidelines)

What if my child starts the school year Virtually and we decide it doesn't work for our family? Once enrolled in Virtual Virginia, there is a one semester commitment.  If your child does not complete the semester you may be expected to pay for that enrollment.

How do I stay involved in my child's school day? Virtual Virginia has a robust communication system between the  teachers, students and family.  A Parent Auditor Account enables parents and caregivers to access instructor contact information, monitor student login activity, and view course grades, all within the VVA student information system (SIS).

Can my child work at their own pace? Although there is flexibility during the day, students follow a pace that is laid out by the Virtual Virginia Teacher.  Assignments must be completed and turned in based on the course requirements.  Elementary students have Synchronous instruction daily.  Most middle and high school courses have a required synchronous time  each day.  

Will my child be able to participate in sports and extra curricular activities? Yes, Your child has the same opportunity as other CCPS students.
